Re: How to remove the indicator stalk switch mechanism?
Hi - ultimately I was a bit intimidated by the removal of the steering wheel and airbag to get to the stalk assembly etc; I just ploughed on with a dodgy indicator contact! So I can't really be of any help. It was in a queue of jobs that all got curtailed by ULEZ which means that the old MX5 is reti...

Re: What have you done to your MX5 today/yesterday?
Finally got down to it, and spent the day under the MX today. What fun! Recent rear new pads and discs were all well and good, but I knew something was still up at the back. I could hear rubbing. So off with the calliper and took to bits. The handbrake arm on the calliper was in a bad way. Well, the...

Alignment bolt rear seized
Hi all. Slid into, and mounted a kerb by a rural roundabout yesterday, and have knocked the alignment way out. Main suspect is the rear n/s wheel. Went under to check damage (sill a bit squashed, but that needs replacing anyway, so has just moved up the to-do list to No2 after this!) and all ok. Can...

Re: POP! goes the power steering...
A link! Indeed. When I sent him an email with a photo, he confirmed the part that I needed, and it was with me within 24 hours. The post being what it is at the moment, I guess you cannot guarantee anything, but it was brilliant service on all levels: price, communication, delivery. Which for those ...

Re: POP! goes the power steering...
:text-thankyouyellow: Thanks! A lot of the things that I do are made a lot easier by this forum, and to a certain extent, give me the courage to give things a go. Oh - and thanks for the spanner edit! I don't always have the perfect tools to hand, so it is brilliant to be given pointers like that, a...

Re: POP! goes the power steering...
I need to edit that last post to get the photos in the right order. I'll do that in due course. Whilst the wheels were off, I decided to deal with the front brake callipers and carriers. Followed Flea's excellent guide, and replaced seals, bleed valves and pistons. Cleaned off as much rust as I coul...

Re: POP! goes the power steering...
First job then is to clean off all the gunk so that I can see what I am doing. So a soak with some engine degreaser, and then a hose off. Fitted today, photos to follow tomorrow when I have a moment.
Love that the Autolink delivery came about 6 hours before the confirmation of despatch email came through - that is certainly the right way around - brilliant!

Re: POP! goes the power steering...
A chance to get the car up now I am back at home again. Wheels off too, so that I can rebuild the front brakes (using the site's guide!) Undertray off, wiped off some of the excess muck and steering fluid. Usual suspect looking in very good nick. 2020-08-03 09.41.27.jpg 2020-08-03 09.41.22.jpg ...pr...

Re: POP! goes the power steering...
Ah - interesting! Once I have got the under tray off and can have a decent look, and know where it is coming from that might come in useful.

POP! goes the power steering...
Nipped out this morning, immediately noticed the steering feeling odd, and hearing a grinding noise on turning left. Then on turning right. So first thought was wheel bearing, then then power steering. Empty pas reservoir, and quite a lot of recent fluid on the under tray. Refilled the pas reservoir...

Re: Rear brake caliper
I think reconditioned is the way to go then. I have not got the equipment to fully clean the old caliper block.
What do we know about these chaps and this product, by the way?

Re: Rear brake caliper
Autolink only has one side at the moment, and I really ought to do them as a pair. I guess I can wait for a bit, but not too long!
